For winter storage: Take top off of rain gauge and disconnect wires from back of instrument, not from the power pole. Leave wire on the ground over the winter. Clear any foreign objects out of the instrument. Blue wire goes to the top connection and green wire goes to the bottom connection.

(In case the wire gets disconnected from the DataLogger box on the power pole, P2 is the channel for the rain gauge).
