Pitot - Lab

How to Set Up

Materials Required:

  • Arduino UNO
  • Raspberry Pi
  • USB-A to USB-B cable
  • Pitot Tube
  • Tubing
  • Assorted mounting hardware

Steps:

  1. Attach the pitot tube to the sensor
  2. Attach the output cables from the sensor to the Arduino
    1. Cables
      1. Yellow = SCL
      2. White = SDA
      3. Red = Power
      4. Black = Ground
    2. Yellow to port A5
    3. White to port A4
    4. Red to 5V power port
    5. Black to GND port
  3. Connect the Arduino to a device with the Arduino IDE software via the USB-A to USB-B cable
  4. In the pitot_tube.py code in the ADPAA (accessible via the Raspberry Pi or SourceForge), the Arduino code is available. Copy and paste it into the Arduino IDE, then write it out to the Arduino board
    1. You may need to download the code library stated in the Arduino code comments
  5. Disconnect the Arduino from the device with the IDE, then connect to the Raspberry Pi
  6. You are ready to begin the code.
