08 June 2022 Ozonesonde Launch
Launch was successful, though there were a bunch of issues.
- An error in the prep of the ozonesonde led to a slight delay in the overall launch time.
- First balloon detached from package as buoyancy of balloon ripped string connecting the balloon to the parachute. Quick analysis revealed that the stick that goes into the parachute was missing and led to the string ripping. After filling a second balloon and checking the parachute for the stick, launch succeeded.
- Finally, to prevent frequency issues between the iMet radiosonde and an attached minisonde, the frequency for the radiosonde/ozonesonde was changed to 404 Hz. Upon launch, the signal to the roof antenna was much lower than previous launches, likely due to this frequency change. This caused significant data dropout via the roof antenna. Will always do the recommended 403 Hz signal from now on. Thankfully, mobile antenna and computer were used to retrieve the package so data was recorded on the mobile system and not lost.
