ATSC: 240 Meteorological Instrumentation - Pitot Lab
Background
True airspeed (TAS) is the speed that an aircraft travels (or in this case the air driven through the tube) relative to the mass of air in which it is flying. It is the calibrated airspeed corrected for compressibility effects and density effects. Using a differential pressure sensor in combination with a pitot tube, we can calculate the TAS in a wind tunnel.
