The software to talk with the HOBO datalogger can be downloaded from Software Utilities page at Onset's web site. You need the LogUtil v3.7 program files & documentation. LogUtil v3.7 program is located in the /nas/Instruments/HOBO_EventLogger direcotry.

A laptop is needed to first start logging the data, and the software, 'logutil.exe' is needed to download the data. First set the correct port using the P option. To start a new data logging session, launch the program and select, “L”. Check date and other parameters are set correctly. If you wish to change parameters you can do so through the menu options. To start the data logging session, select “S” for start.

Once data has been recorded you need, to convert the data into a use able file with the “ReadOut”, “R” option. When asked to save the data, select “NO” to export it in a text format. To export the data, select “E”, select “3) Custom format”, select the “4” option for the “date/time format”. Select “Y” for fractional seconds exported“. Select a “comma” field separator. Use a file name extension of “csv”.
