Changing the Filament
Removing the Filament
- In the main menu on the screen, select “Utilities”
- Select “Unload Filament”
- The extruder will heat up and extract the filament
- The screen will prompt when it is complete, and the filament can be removed. Check for lingering filament that is hanging from or has fallen from the nozzle.
Replacing the Filament
- Open the top and remove the cartridge box from the back.
- Twist the center lock and remove it.
- Keeping track of the orientation of the chip on the bottom, remove the top cover of the box.
- Replace the filament spool and the chip.
- Note: If the chip is not oriented correctly, the printer and XYZware software will not be able to keep track of how much filament is remaining.
- Replace the cover and the center lock.
Loading the Filament
- Put the cartridge box in the back compartment, with the side with the filament opening on the right.
- Place the filament with in the opening at the top of the extruder.
- In the main menu on the screen, select “Utilities”
- Select “Load Filament”
- The extruder will heat up and load the filament.
- If the filament does not load, you may need to push the filament down to get the wheels to grab it.
Printing
As of XYZware version 2.1.29.2, printer version 1.2.4:
- Open the file in the XYZware printing software by clicking “Import” (far left in the top row of buttons).
- Click on “Print” (fourth from left). A menu will pop up to select the quality of the print. “Good” quality is sufficient for most purposes. Select any desired settings and click “Print”.
- The software will “splice” the design, rendering it in layers the printer can work with. The “More” button will give information on an estimate of how much filament will be used, as well as the capacity left in the spool. It will also give an estimate of the time it will take to print.
- Click “Print” again, and the job will be sent to the printer.
- The lower right button in the workspace has information about the temperature of the nozzle and the bed, and the length of filament left out of the original capacity.
- When the printing is complete, the printer will lower the bed, and will display a message on the screen that the object is cooling.
- Once the bed is safe to touch, the printer will say that the object can be removed. Often it is easier to wait for the object to cool down even more before attempting to remove it, as cooler objects generally pop off the bed easier.
