Helium transfer to the smaller portable helium tanks allows for quicker and cheaper filling when compared to sending the tank to be filled at airgas. The transfer is accomplished using the helium transfer hose located in the ballooning area in Clifford Hall.
1. Make sure both helium tanks have their valves closed
2. Attach the regulator side of the transfer hose to the larger helium tank (or the tank that the helium is being transferred from). Make sure to close the pressure relief valve on the transfer hose
3. Attach the other end of the transfer hose to the receiving tank
4. Open the receiving tank's valve. Then, slowly open the valve on the larger tank
5. Once helium transfer is complete, close both tanks
6. Open the pressure relief valve to evacuate the under pressure gas remaining in the transfer line
7. Detach the transfer hose.
