Removed camera from housing fixed to top of the site's trailer, and is possessed by Jen Hershey currently. This was done due to its not being responsive after David Keith attempted to connect to it directly using a null modem cable and laptop following removing the camera's top and pressing its black circular reset button. Please note that the camera's software was used and has been used to re-initialize the camera, successfully, after manufacturer servicing during august 2009, approximately. The Ethernet cable normally used to transmit images from the camera to UND Atmospheric Science's website provided a live internet connection to the laptop mentioned previously. This seems to rule out a failed internet connection. Lastly, it was discovered that there was ice located in the front bottom side portion of the permanent “waterproof” camera housing atop the site's trailer. This could mean that liquid water could have penetrated the housing and caused electrical damage to the camera.
The field site was visited by Jen Hershey (site manager) and David Keith on January 21st, 2009.
