Notes to Use SODA

To easily use SODA while in the T28_Data directory while on the aircraft server, there are a couple of programs you'll have to download into your home directory (/home/yourname).

Downloading Packages

  1. Go to this link to download CoPAS (might not need to do this based off Dave's last reply),
    1. CoPAS contains ADPAA and SODA (it's how I (James) got ADPAA)
      1. It contains instructions in the readme on how to install everything
      2. I'm not sure how to download ADPAA without using CoPAS to do it
  2. Link to ADPAA
  3. Link to SODA
    1. You CAN download SODA independently. However, the script to easily run the SODA gui is a part of ADPAA

Browsing Data with SODA

With SODA and ADPAA installed (might not need it installed, may be able to skip to running “gnu_soda2”),

  1. Navigate to the directory with a .dat file
    1. e.g. /Radar_Data/T28_Data/data/yr2000/f757/SODA_Outputs/filename.dat
  2. type,
    1. gnu_soda2
  3. click on “Menu” then “Browse Data…”
  4. click on File and select a .dat file
  5. To exit SODA and regain use of command line,
    1. Once you've exited the SODA gui, type into the command line “exit” and hit enter
      1. You won't see any text appear, but if it worked, after a few seconds SODA will finish exiting and you can use the command line normally again.

Using SODA to Process Data

Described in this manual https://github.com/abansemer/soda2/blob/master/MANUAL.pdf

  1. To exit SODA and regain use of command line,
    1. Once you've exited the SODA gui, type into the command line “exit” and hit enter
