==== Jeju-2024 Cloud Probe Workshop Simulations README==== The files in this folder contain synthetic Optical Array Probe (OAP) data for the Workshop on Evaluation of Cloud Probe Processing Software, in Jeju, South Korea from July 12-13, 2024. There are three sets of files available: one for simulated round drops, one for simulated columns with a 3:1 aspect ratio, and one with a mix of irregular ice shapes. Each set of files has been simulated for four instruments: |Probe | Pixel Resolution (μm) | Number of Diodes | Arm Width (cm) | Laser Wavelength (nm) | | SPEC 2D-S | 10 | 128 | 6.3 | 785 | | SPEC HVPS-3 | 150 | 128 | 16.25 |785 | | DMT CAPS-CIP| 25 | 64 | 10.0 |658 | | DMT PIP | 100 | 64 | 26.0 |658 | ===== Information from Readme File ===== All files are in the native raw data format for each instrument, with SPEC format for the 2D-S and HVPS-3, and DMT PADS format for the CAPS-CIP and PIP. Following the usual conventions, SPEC-formatted data have file names baseYYMMDDHHMMSS.2DS[HVPS], and DMT-formatted data have file names Imagefile_YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.CAPS[PIP]. Each simulation contains 60 seconds of a single particle size distribution, starting at midnight (00:00:00) on January 1st, 2010. Particles have been positioned randomly between the arms and across the array of the probe, and their sizes have been defined by maximum dimension from a circle fit. The true air speed is 100 m/s for all simulations. Please contact Aaron Bansemer (bansemer@ucar.edu) if you have any questions or suggestions.
